Q: What is a dial-up account?
A: A dial-up account is the most basic type of connection to the Internet. Using a modem that is linked with your computer and a phone line, you are able to connect to the Internet by calling a designated number.
Q: Why doesn't Info Avenue offer unlimited Internet access?
A: Our experience with unlimited internet accounts is that there is no incentive for customers with those type of accounts to disconnect from their service, which if left connected ties up our modem bank, creating a higher chance of busy signals when you try to connect.
Q: How can I get my own web page?
A: All Info Avenue dial-up plans come with 10 mb of web space to house your personal website. Click here for tips on creating your site. If your site needs to be larger than 10 mb or you would like it professionally designed, please visit: www.webtelpro.com.
Q: How can I access the Internet when I am out of town?
A: Info Avenue has more than 400 access numbers across the country and we also offer a WATS number for other areas. Please contact Customer Service at 1-800-950-4726 to enable WATS access.
Q: Does Info Avenue offer SLIP accounts?
A: Yes. Though SLIP is an older protocol, Info Avenue does still support it. We also have a full suite of terminal based Internet applications that can be accessed using a dumb terminal and a modem (you don't even need a P.C.).
Q: Can I add users to my account?
A: Yes. You may add a user to share all features of your account for a $2 set up fee and $2 per month. Or, you may add an email only account for a $5 set up fee and $1 per month.
Q: How can I get a domain name?
A: Info Avenue's sister company, the Registry at Info Avenue is a domain name registrar. For more information or to check the availability of a domain name, go to www.iaregistry.com or if you wish we can handle the registration process for youwhen you sign up for Web Hosting at www.webtelpro.com.
Q: How can I determine my current Internet usage or change my password?
A: In the "User Utilities" tab, Click on the Channel "Check usage report/change password". You will then be prompted to enter you username and password. After entering this information, you will have the option to choose change your password or check your usage report.
Q: How can I block certain websites and content from being viewed?
A: Our content filtering service blocks thousands of sites containing objectionable material. Please contact Customer Service at 1-800-950-4726 to enable Content Filtering.
